Welcome to Harmony Psychological Services
Harmony Psychological Services is dedicated to providing compassionate and effective therapy for children, adolescents, parents, and families, as well as consultation services for parents/caregivers. Although we support clients with a variety of issues, we specialize in helping children, adolescents, and families who are struggling with anxiety, attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder (ADHD), autism spectrum disorders (ASD), behavior challenges, and executive functioning and learning challenges to feel empowered and thrive. What makes us unique is our deep knowledge of and experience in bridging connections between mental health challenges and educational obstacles, drawing from our training and background in education.

Professional Journey
Dr. Huang is a licensed psychologist in Maryland and a Nationally Certified School Psychologist, working at Montgomery County Public Schools (MCPS). She earned her Bachelor of Arts degree from Wellesley College, double majoring in cognitive science and Chinese studies. She earned her Master of Arts, Advanced Graduate Specialist, and Doctor of Philosophy degrees in School Psychology from the APA-accredited Counseling and Personnel Services Program at the University of Maryland, College Park. Her professional journey is driven by the passion to make a positive impact on the lives of young individuals and families.

Through over 16.5 years of professional experience, Dr. Huang has honed her skills to address a wide range of psychological needs in children and adolescents, supporting them in coping with stress, dealing with challenging life situations, and building social connections. In addition, she has conducted comprehensive psychological assessments and consulted with school staff, parents, and other providers regarding academic, behavioral, and social-emotional issues. She has worked with diverse populations of children, adolescents, and young adults from ages 3 to 21. Moreover, Dr. Huang worked in programs for students with severe emotional disabilities during her doctoral internship and in the Autism Program at MCPS. She has extensive knowledge of educational processes such as the Section 504 and Individualized Education Program (IEP) processes. Dr. Huang is fluent in Mandarin Chinese and has also supported the Bilingual Assessment Team (BAT) at MCPS with conducting bilingual psychological assessments in Mandarin. In addition, she has mentored first-year psychologists and provided psychology supervision for both pre-doctoral internship and post-doctoral experiences.
Dr. Huang specializes in working with children, adolescents, parents/caregivers, and families with anxiety, neurodivergence (e.g. ADHD, autism, dyslexia, etc.), behavior challenges, and executive functioning and learning challenges. She is also interested in Asian American mental health and issues regarding diversity, culture, and identity. Dr. Huang utilizes a strength-based, culturally-sensitive integrative approach that draws from behavioral therapy, cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), humanistic therapy, play therapy, and mindfulness. Under the Authority to Practice Interjurisdictional Telepsychology (APIT) by the PSYPACT Commission, Dr. Huang is able offer telehealth services in 42 states, including Maryland, Virginia, and Washington, D.C.
